Welcome to Gîte La Peyre
Gîte La Peyre is a newly renovated French stone 'salle de fête'. The cottage is nestled on the edge of our own peaceful hamlet - follow the sign to 'La Peyre' and you will find us - we are at the end of a road which leads to us only and you will find the property which consists of farm buildings, another cottage and our own home in a total of 5 acres. The gîte has been finished to a very high standard combining warm rustic charm yet modern comforts too. 10 minutes from historical Benevent l’Abbaye, 20 minutes from the towns of La Souterraine and Guéret and 45 minutes from Limoges Airport. Helpful owners are on hand to help before and during your stay.
As Gîte La Peyre is situated within our own hamlet, we can hopefully answer any questions you may have, before and during your stay - otherwise we are very happy to allow you to have that quiet, relaxing time alone. We have tried to create the ultimate in peace, quiet & tranquility........you might hear the odd cow or perhaps some birds - otherwise - nature at its best.
... The “salle de fete” was in fact a meeting place used by locals during their hunting exploits – meeting to discuss and chat about who caught what – and perhaps that illustrious tipple.
...you will see some of the walls are still stone – these have been worked on by local craftsmen who painstakingly worked their magic to bring back what you see now.
...rather on a tilt – look outside at the angle of the building and that will show you what the inside was......now we are as flat and level as possible!!!
...symmetrically and visually pleasing, along with the small walkway around the building. At the rear there is also another “smaller” patio – ideal to sit and relax in the late afternoon/evening – to catch the remaining sun.
